Grievance Update November 2019

19146 Tour two; in this issue a light duty employee was denied Holiday work because of his light duty status; issue resolved the Grievant shall receive a lump sum payment of $200.

19565/18427 Tour one; in these issues the shop steward was denied talking a photograph of an area that he believed was a safety hazard; in order to support his position he had requested to photograph the area but was turned down by the lead manager; issue resolved the Service will cease and desist denying the steward opportunities to take photographs; if the steward wishes to take the photograph previously requested he can re-submit his request.

19638 Tour two; the Union requested to send an extra-day mail handler to Hicksville Post Office to cover an absence and to avoid the use of clerks doing MH work, but when he arrived he was informed no work; issue resolved the mail handler shall receive a lump sum payment of $160.

19597 Tour one; Grievant worked outside his bid assignment as a PIV operator; working outside an employee’s bid location as a PIV operator violates the National Agreement and arbitrators Chin and Simmelkjaer awards in regards to Higher level assignments; issue resolved management will follow the proper pecking order when assigning higher level for the violation and a lump sum payment of $30 will be provided.
